Leadership in Instructional Design and Technology Certificate Program

This program is a higher-level certificate designed for education professionals interested in distance instructional delivery systems, management, and consulting. Our curriculum offers professionals the opportunity to bring the gap between instructional design research and practice.

Quick Facts About the Program

To earn the Leadership in Instructional Design and Technology certificate, students need to complete four courses from this learning path.

Core Courses (Required)

  • Leadership for Distance Education: Learn how to manage diverse teams and be aware of and sensitive to religious, racial, and cultural norms.
  • Managing Instructional Design Initiatives: Learn how to integrate the competencies of instructional design and development with the leadership, innovative thinking, and communication skills needed to become competent leaders.

 Electives (Select 2 courses)

  • Universal Design for Learning (UDL): Examine current UDL principles and trends as well as how to leverage that knowledge to create deeper engagement and comprehension.
  • Practices in Online Instructional Design: Apply tested theories of learning to online education.
  • Fundamental Skills of Instructional Technologists: Learn to oversee the smooth implementation of technology throughout your organization. This course is recommended for K-12 educators and administrators.

The Office of Professional Advancement has instituted a badging system that allows graduates to virtually display a badge, which showcases their new skillset to prospective employers and professional colleagues.

Students will receive a digital badge after completion of the program (2 core courses and 2 elective courses). Students will receive an email with instructions on how to collect their badges. Once collected, students can display their badges on social media sites like LinkedIn. Any potential employer will be able to click on the badge for a list of specific skills associated with the respective certificate received.
