The University of Miami Fundamentals of Delivering Training Certificate Program teaches all the skills needed to create and deliver an effective presentation designed to achieve maximum results. Students will learn to outline a presentation with a specific audience in mind, connect with that audience and engage their attention, utilize visual aids and handouts to supplement the presentation, and deliver their knowledge and expertise in a clear, straightforward manner.

    Nearly every industry relies on human resources managers, and their list of duties and responsibilities is extensive. They play a crucial role in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring new employees, and also act as a bridge between staff and management. They mediate disputes, oversee disciplinary actions, give advice on policy and procedures, and monitor issues involving payroll, benefits, and compliance. Because their work directly affects nearly every member of a company, the human resources manager position is critical to most businesses.

    The U.S. Department of Labor projects the employment rate for human resources managers will grow by 13% between 2012 and 2022, higher than the average growth rate for all professions combined. When new companies are formed and existing companies expand, the need for human resources managers grows as well. The changing landscape of employment laws, including the adoption of the Affordable Healthcare Act, is also expected to create more openings in the human resources field.

    Delivering training is a valuable skill for managers in other fields as well, and employment rates for most management positions are expected to either rise or remain steady between 2012 and 2022.

    This program teaches the ability to develop a memorable and interactive training session that will both engage and enlighten an audience. Students will learn to perform a fundamental training needs assessment, establish learning objectives, compile their data and prepare supporting materials, and maintain their audience’s attention during the training while maximizing the transmission of information. They will also explore the challenges of facilitating open, honest communication and discuss how individual learning styles should be considered when planning and delivering a training session.

    Program outcomes include: developing the skills to plan and deliver an effective business presentation; employing strategies to establish and maintain the audience's attention; understanding the challenges of facilitating honest and open communication; enabling groups to work through the problem-solving process to reach sustainable outcomes; and examining the utility of co-facilitating meetings and work groups.
