The University of Miami Organizational Consulting Certificate Program teaches the skills and knowledge needed to identify and eliminate challenges at a broad range of organizations, from private companies to government agencies to educational institutions. Students will learn how to help an organization retain employees, increase its efficiency and productivity, maintain a fluid work environment, and establish effective changes that benefit and engage the organization’s human capital resources. The program also covers the nuts and bolts every organizational consultant needs to succeed in the workplace, including strong communication and presentation skills, strategies for framing challenges, the essentials of consulting contracts, and tips for developing a consulting business.

    Organizational consultants, sometimes called management analysts or management consultants, play an important role in many of today’s businesses. Sometimes a consultant is hired to address one particular challenge. Other times, a consultant might be asked to study and evaluate a more general issue, such as boosting an organization’s productivity, reducing its costs, increasing its revenue, or modernizing its outdated systems or procedures. In addition to assessing a challenge and offering a solution, consultants also help their clients become more self-sustaining by motivating and inspiring them to uncover solutions on their own. 

    The U.S. Department of Labor projects that the employment rate for management analysts will grow by 19% between 2012 and 2022, much faster than the average growth rate for all occupations combined. New businesses will need guidance on the fundamentals of efficient operation while existing organizations will seek alternative ways to lower costs or boost sales and productivity in a competitive market. Consultants who focus on specialized business functions, such as entering a foreign market or implementing environmentally-friendly initiatives, could find themselves in even higher demand.
